"…which God, Who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,
but at the proper time manifested… (Titus 1:2-3)

Time: 60 minutes; 24 hours; 7 days; 12 months

We are time creatures. Everything we know about time has a beginning and an end. There is a time to be born and a time to die.

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven- " (Eccl 3:1)

But God is eternal. He reveals His work in the context of time but He is timeless.

He "promised long ages ago." Some would say that this phrase does not refer to a time in ancient history. It could actually refer to the Father promising the Son before time began. Whether or not it was before time began, or at an early point in time, God had a plan that He would reveal His salvation at a certain point on earth's calendar….and, He kept His word!

We know that before the foundation of the world God had a plan to bring worshippers to His throne through the person and work of Jesus (see 2 Tim. 1:9; Eph 1:4-5).

In Galatians we read that Jesus came in the fullness of time (Gal. 4:4) and here we read that God was fulfilling His word at the proper time.

Remember the two Greek words that we have studied together?
· "Chronos" from which we get our word "chronology"
· "Kairos" a special moment in time; a special season of time

These words remind us of how God works. God does His works in the context of time (at certain points on the calendar) and when He makes a promise, He keeps His word! We also know that God has the big picture and knows the special moments in chronological time….when He will uncover the mysteries of His will.

So, how's time going for you? Are you seeing the hand of God as He works out His will in your life? Can you trust Him with the seasons of your heart knowing that He is working all things together for your good…and He has a plan?

For years, we have been singing a praise chorus "In His time." Today, let's make the words of this song our prayer.

Father,
In Your Time; In Your time;
You make all things beautiful in Your time;
Lord, please show me every day,
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say….in Your time.

In Jesus Name, I trust Your working in my life,
Amen
